De La Soul Delays Album, Releases "For Your Pain & Suffering" EP
Originally slated to come out today, "And the Anonymous Nobody" gets pushed back to August.
Six months ago, De La Soul set the release date for their Kickstarter-funded album And the Anonymous Nobody: April 29th. This morning, the storied Queens trio announced that they are pushing back the release date to August 26.
“We have a lot of featured artists on this album," the group wrote in a letter to their 11,000 Kickstarter backers. "So with that being said, we have to get permission from their labels, and that takes a little bit of time. As well as our attorneys speaking with their attorneys and drawing up agreements and contracts,” they wrote.
They also announced that they would release their first single, "Pain" feat. Snoop Dogg this summer.

Nas A "Huge Creative Force" On Netflix Hip Hop Series "The Get Down
Executive producer Baz Luhrmann details Nas' role on the upcoming '70s hip hop drama.
During an interview at the Tribeca Film Festival, Baz Luhrmann spoke on Nas' involvement in his Netflix '70s hip hop drama "The Get Down," calling the rapper "a huge creative force" in shaping the aesthetic of the series, which follows a posse of struggling South Bronx teens during the genesis of hip hop.
“One of the great collaborations is that I’ve been working really closely in creating these rhymes, and he’s a producer on the film, with one of the most iconic voices of the ‘90s and that’s Nas," Luhrmann said. "And so Nas has been this other huge creative force in the production. And it’s been playing really, really successfully.”

Listen To Bankroll Mafia's Debut Self-Titled Album
Atlanta supergroup Bankroll Mafia (T.I., Young Thug, Shad da God, London Jae, and Duke) drops its new self-titled album.
Bankroll Mafia took a hit when one of its founding members, PeeWee Roscoe, was sent to prison. With Roscoe still locked up (free da goat), the Mafia has reemerged as one of the nation's strongest collectives, made up of T.I., Young Thug, Shad da God, London Jae, and Duke. Earlier this week, the group shared a video to its January banger "Out My Face," and today, T.I., Shad, and Jae dropped off a cool stoner's anthem in "Smoke Tree" along with an accompanying video. Now, as promised, the self-titled album is here, and it looks incredible.
Aside from the squad members listed above, Bankroll Mafia features some of ATL's best young talent, including guest spots from Quavo and Offset of Migos, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, and PeeWee Roscoe. And the original PeeWee Roscoe also gives the album his blessing from the pen by appearing on four tracks. Production comes from Wheezy, Isaac Flame, and more.

Meek Mill Previews Collaborations With Chris Brown & Rick Ross
Meek says he might have to charge for "Dreamchasers 4".
Meek Mill has been hyping his Dreamchasers 4 mixtape for some time now, and while he's shared two solid EPs in the process, fans are still eagerly awaiting news of the project. Today, Meek has shared clips of two new records, the first of which being an unnamed collaboration with Rick Ross, and the second, a record called "Trust Me' with Rozay and Chris Brown.
Meek certainly seems pretty excited about the new material indicating that he may have to release DC4 as a retail project. "I can't drop this shit for free," he wrote. Judging by the impressive numbers his last project put up, that's probably a good idea.

DJ Khaled Interested In Buying Miami Heat Ownership Stake
Khaled is looking to take his mogul status to the next level.
With the NBA playoffs underway, TMZ Sports caught up with Snapchat maestro DJ Khaled to get his thoughts on the Miami Heat chances at making a championship run and the possibility of a Khaled ownership stake in his hometown team.
“I would love to talk to the Heat [and see if they’d] let me be a owner, even if it’s one percent. Either way, I’m there representing courtside. And if I’m out of town, I’m representing. I bleed Miami. It’s Miami Heat for life. It’s Miami everything.”
Jay Z famously held an ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets of one-sixth of one percent. The Miami Heat are valued at $1.3 billion. A one percent ownership stake would be $13 million, or roughly of Khaled's net worth. Even if Lebron doesn't come back, he's still down to make it happen.
“I’ve got nothing but love for LeBron James,” Khaled said. "If he came back to Miami, smartest decision he ever made in his career. But where he’s at, it’s a blessing for him, too.”

Lupe Fiasco Releases "Conversations #1" Ahead Of "Drogas"
Lupe Fiasco teases his upcoming album "Drogas" with the release of "Conversations #1."
After a lengthy silence, Lupe Fiasco came out of hiding earlier in the week to reveal his three-album plan had changed slightly. Fans may recall that Lupe teased three different titles for albums he'd be releasing one after another this year, ending with the final release of his career, Roy. Roy has now apparently been scrapped, and in it's place we'll be receiving an album titled DROGAS light*. DROGAS light* serves as the second of the three-album rollout, sided between DROGAS and SKULL-- SKULL being his last album.
Now that the album roll out is sufficiently clear, Lupe has decided to tease the DROGAS project with the release is "CONVERSATIONS #1," and according to his Soundcloud, it will be a series, thus we can likely expect "CONVERSATIONS #2" to hit shortly. It's not new music, to be clear, and according to the artwork, it's was recorded "live on the scene back in 2013." In the conversation, Lupe talks with various members of the community, mainly consisting of L.O.T.U.S. (Lifting Ourselves Through US) members, about the media's affects on their children and the community as a whole-- for example, they're advocating for less explicit content to be played on radio.

Tory Lanez Declines XXL Freshman Cover Spot
Though he got an offer, Tory Lanez will not be a member of this year's Freshman class.
There is much buzz about the rap world regarding the 10 rappers who will appear on this year's XXL Freshman cover. The HNHH staff recently shared its opinions on those most deserving of the honor and put forth a list that includes talents like G Herbo, Jazz Cartier, and Tory Lanez, the latter whom it seems has been a contender for a few years now. Regardless, the self-proclaimed face of the New Toronto is bigger now than ever before, but as of today, Lanez himself has confirmed that he will NOT be pictured among the 2016 crop of Freshman.
"I passed on the XXL cover. Don't b confused," wrote Lanez today on Twitter, officially joining the ranks of his Toronto neighbors Drake and PartyNextDoor as artists who have turned down a spot on the Freshman cover. Last year's Freshman issue came out at the beginning of June, so chances are that XXL has already started to narrow down the guys and/or girls who will be a part of this year's Freshman class. And if Lanez' tweet is to be believed, XXL offered him a cover spot, which he apparently declined.
Kanye West’s “I Feel Like Kobe” Shirt Now Available For Purchase
Fans can now cop Kanye West’s special edition Black Mamba shirt that he wore during Kobe’s final game Wednesday night.
Kobe Bryant just played the final game of his remarkable 20-year career at the Staples Center Wednesday night against the Utah Jazz, where he put on a 60 point performance for the fans. Unsurprisingly, the arena was packed with some star-studded artists & celebrities to watch the Black Mamba take the court for the last time, including Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, David Beckham, Jack Nicholson, Schoolboy Q, The Weeknd, Snoop Dogg, and Kanye West, who caught the attention of the fashion world with a special edition “Black Mamba” shirt that he rocked during the game.

On Friday night, The Life Of Pablo rapper took to twitter to announce that fans can now officially purchase the “I Love Kobe” shirt now on his website for a “reasonable” price of $65 bucks.
Tech N9ne Announces Release Date For Next Album "The Storm"
Tech N9ne is reportedly working on a new album called "The Storm," dropping in September.
Tech N9ne may be 44 years old, but he’s still easily one of the hardest working rappers in the game right now. Having released two albums in 2015 in Special Effects & Strangeulation 2, the Strange Music CEO is reportedly already eyeing his follow up for 2016.
Taking to Instagram Friday night, Tech decided to presumably announce the title to his next album The Storm, which will be dropping on September 9. His captioned read, “I don't fit the part for mainstream cause I'm rougher only time they wanna look like me is Halloween mutha fucka! ( I GET IT NOW) THE STORM, 9/9/16.”
According to HHNM, Chris Brown is reportedly set to make an appearance on a song called “Mid Cuff,” but that hasn't been confirmed. No other information is known at the time, but we’ll definitely keep you posted once we found out.

Post Malone shares the red-infused artwork for his upcoming mixtape.
Post Malone was all over the news earlier today after a photo surfaced online of him choking his bff Justin Bieber at the club, but he’s since taken to twitter to clear the air about the situation which appears to be all good now (see latest pic). However, during his series of tweets earlier, Post decided to give the fans something to look forward to when he announced that he has a new mixtape dropping soon, stating "the mixtape is on the precipice of release.”
Well fast forward a couple hours later, and the “White Iverson” rapper decided to take to social media accounts and share that very artwork for his upcoming mixtape. Unfortunately, he didn’t reveal any other additional details, like its title or when it’s dropping, but just know it’s coming.

Future & Jay Z To Release Single With DJ Khaled
Southside mentioned the song during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.
Stop the presses!! Future and Jay Z have a song together... with DJ Khaled. This revelation comes courtesy of 808 Mafia producer Southside, who mentioned the record during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid.
"I got the new single with Future and Jay Z too," Southside said. "And Khaled. That shit's crazy."
Southside revealed that he produced the song with Jake One and a producer named G-Coup. Khaled has a history of bringing huge names together, so the fact that he is involved makes the Future-Jay Z pairing more believable. As does the fact that Jay Z is now Khaled's manager. This is not the first time Southside has offered a juicy bit of insider information re: Future. In November, he mentioned that Future was sitting on six albums and three mixtapes. (Fewtch has blessed the streets with one album and one mixtape since then.)
Southside mentions the Future-Jay Z-Khaled single at the 3:30 mark below. The whole 20-minute interview is worth a listen -- the Atlanta producer discusses his role in Kanye West's The Life of Pablo, how he and Flocka changed the sonic landscape of hip hop, the time Kanye told him he was the future of music, and more.

Drake's "Views From The 6" Will Be An Apple Music Exclusive
Drake's upcoming album "Views from the 6" will be released exclusively on Apple Music.
Top artists have joined forces with the most prominent music streaming services in recent months. Rihanna and Kanye West both released their latest albums on Tidal -- and Ye even kept The Life of Pablo locked on the Jay Z-helmed platform for over a month and a half. It is known that Drake has a deal with Apple Music, though the exact terms of the partnership are unknown. Last summer, it was rumored that Apple offered him an estimated $19 million. But the deal should prove to be lucrative for both parties, as Pitchfork now reports (via Apple) that Views from the 6, upon its release, will be an Apple Music exclusive.
As for how long the album will remain exclusively on Apple Music, that much is unknown. The news comes soon after Drake announced the Views release date live on tonight's episode of OVO Sound Radio, which is still going on now (stream here). Fans have got exactly 20 days until the release of Drake's fourth album. Better download Apple Music before April 29.

Watch Kendrick Lamar Induct N.W.A. Into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
Kendrick's speech was one for the ages.
It's always great to see an act as important as N.W.A. recognized for their influence, but it's even better when it's the right person doing the honoring. You couldn't really ask for a better speaker for the group's induction to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame than Kendrick Lamar, and he lived up to expectations at the ceremony yesterday.
Lamar went through the contributions of each member of the group with the enthusiasm of a fan, while also illustrating the group's larger importance within history. "I know each and every one of them said they never wanted to be role models," he said. "But look … The first time I see Eazy bust through that screen out the jail cell on stage on “We Want Eazy,” I felt like every single one of them was black superheroes where I come from. Because it shows, like I said, people from our community can be on that television screen, be on awards, and still have their voice and be real to themselves. So make some noise for that because that’s the realest thing."
Of course, the members of the group also made their own speeches, with Ice Cube and MC Ren taking a moment to address Gene Simmons of KISS' negative comments about rap (he said it would last ten years at best, and he was looking forward to its death), to which they responded "hip-hop is here forever!". They also took a pretty epic photo with Kendrick that Cube later threw up on his Instagram.
