A "Welcome To Death Row" Film Is Being Shopped Around

It's looking like we may get a follow-up to "Straight Outta Compton," titled "Welcome to Death Row." Although Universal recently denied Daz Dillinger's claim that there would be a "sequel" to "Straight Outta Compton," which would focus on Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound and Tupac, it looks like there could be some truth to it yet. The Hollywood Reporter states that with the wild success of "Straight Outta Compton" (it has swiftly become the highest-grossing music biopic of all time), APA is shopping around a purported sequel titled "Welcome to Death Row" (and not "Dogg Pound 4 Life" as some other reports claimed). "Welcome to Death Row" would be based on the book and the documentary by S. Leigh Savidge, who received a co-executive producer credit on the "Compton" film. The film would involve several of the same characters that we saw in the N.W.A. film, however the time period would focus on the years after N.W.A. formed. There could be a slight complication, though. There are no music rights attached to "Welcome to Death Row." However, as HR points out, the music rights for N.W.A. were brought in only after they started writing the script, so it doesn't seem like too big of a deterring factor.
